Giving to Meet the Need

InvestEvery holiday season, people struggle with the question, “How can I give so that a ministry is blessed and my gift actually addresses the need?” For the discipleship ministry of the PCA, there are a number of ways that churches and individuals give.

The “ministry ask” is the amount per member that CEP requests from churches that donate. This figure takes into account that, for a variety of reasons, not all PCA congregations are able to donate to General Assembly causes. In 2013, the CEP “ministry ask” is $7 per church member.
An alternate method is the “per capita calculation.”This amount optimistically assumes that every PCA church will give to the work of the General Assembly regardless of the circumstances of the congregation. In 2013, the CEP “per capita calculation” is $2.54 per church member.

The most effective way to contribute to the ministry of CEP is to give a donation by a check mailed to our office or through an online bank draft using the orange “Invest in CEP” button on our home page (www.pcacep.org). There you can also make a donation by credit card, but a portion of your donation will go to the credit card company for the service.

If you are a church leader, please encourage your deacons and/or elders to support CEP at the level of the “ministry ask.” If you are an individual with a heart for the work of discipleship among children, youth, and adults, consider a gift to CEP at the level of the “ministry ask” ($7 per person) on behalf of your small group, Sunday school class, or even your entire congregation. In whatever way the Lord leads you to give, we appreciate your partnership in the ministry of discipleship.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

2014 Women’s Love Gift

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Starting in 1974, women in the PCA have supported an annual love gift to promote denominational connectionalism and demonstrate our corporate helper-design as women in the church. The money is raised in various ways such as donations, fundraisers, etc. The Women’s Love Gift has blessed committees and agencies such as MNA’s Special Needs Ministries, MTW’s efforts to support the Gonaives, Haiti, Children’s Home, and other such ministries. Showing the annual Women’s Love Gift in your church does several things: Educates the people in the pew, promotes unity and greater understanding of the PCA, and provides good opportunities for monies to be appropriately channeled to specific ministry needs. The Women’s Ministry Love Gift for 2014 will benefit the work of PCA Discipleship Ministries (CDM, previously Christian Education and Publications), and particularly the work of discipleship among women in the PCA. Women play a life-giving role in the life and ministry of the Church, and we must seek to address the needs of women in our culture with the encouragement of Christ-centered community and the redemptive truth of God’s Word.

Your gift of $25, $50, $100, or any amount will equip women to understand God’s Word better through Bible study or to serve the body of Christ well through training designed to develop teachers and mentors. Our goal is to raise $120,000 with which we hope to create and distribute a variety of resources designed for women in the local church:Goal Thermometer-final

  • Video-based training for ministry leaders
  • Intergenerational resources for life-on-life discipleship
  • Exegetical Bible study materials
  • Scholarships for women to attend training events
  • “Seed money” to offer regional training throughout the PCA

2014 Women’s Leadership Training Conference

This event is our annual conference and is focused on training and inspiring woman in the PCA to lead and serve the Women’s Ministry at their respective churches. Good News of Great Joy: An Advent Devotional

As families in your church reflect on the Advent season Good News of Great Joy is made to help them grasp the meaning of Christmas. This devotional includes the following for each day: Scripture Reading, a Lesson, Questions, Memory Verse, and a Hymn. It will also teach about each candle lit for Sundays in Advent as well as providing corresponding ornament templates that children can color and decorate. The devotional is made to be used year after year (this year, Advent begins on November 29).
